Dyslexic Advantage

Dyslexic Advantage

Dyslexic Advantage is a fabulous resource in the educational advocacy world.

In this linked article, Passed Dyslexia Laws in the US, you can find which laws have been passed for dyslexia legislation in your state.

Only 7 states have no laws at all passed, which is remarkable. Much progress has been made.

At the federal level, the Department of Education does recognize dyslexia, and even recommends using the term in IEP's and 504 plans.

While we've made much progress in legislation, there is yet even more progress to be made in action at public K-12 schools.

Training teachers in dyslexia warning signs and symptoms, belief that it exists, and program and teaching strategies to use that benefit dyslexic students are essential if we are to make educational progress.

If you get a moment to read the fine work of Dyslexic Advantage 2019 Passed Dyslexia Laws in the US, I highly recommend celebrating these major victories!

Sincerely,

Heidi Nord
